Celebrating our clients: Colleen Russell-Rawlins, Director of Education at the Toronto District School Board

We love it when members of the DM&C family get their flowers and Colleen deserves MANY bouquets!

We first met her at the start of 2021, early in her tenure as Interim Director of Education at the Peel District School Board. Our team worked closely with Ms. Russell-Rawlins to craft an executive communications strategy that showcased her voice, her leadership priorities and her social media presence during a school year in the heat of a global health crisis and world wide racial reckoning.

While crafting the narrative that would help define her leadership brand, we were struck by Colleen’s commitment to her career in education exemplified by her strong desire to improve outcomes for all students. We were thrilled to offer a last word on the content that announced her transition to the TDSB, making her the first-ever Black female to be the Director in the history of the board.

We are so proud to be a part of your story Colleen! Glad to share a link to this new York University feature, Colleen finally meeting Dayo Kefentse in person after working exclusively online, and this fabulous shot of Colleen from last weekend’s inaugural Caribbean Camera and the Black Indigenous Business Development Association Impact Awards, recognizing the achievements of outstanding individuals in the Black/Caribbean community. Colleen, congratulations on everything you have accomplished and thank you for being a historic changemaker in the education sector!
