It’s that festive time of year when many are preparing for the holidays, and Oprah’s Favorite Things remains a popular go-to guide to find that perfect gift. Our team is reminiscing about a media campaign with One More Cocoa, a boutique chocolatier that blends the rich flavours of Jamaica with the artistry of premium chocolate, creating a unique fusion of cultural indulgence.
DAYO Media and Communications Inc. (DM&C) had the pleasure of representing One More Cocoa as their media partner. This came after One More Cocoa was featured on Oprah’s Favorite Things 2023 List, a go-to holiday shopping guide showcasing clever gadgets, stylish sustainable products, indulgent treats and top picks in home, fashion and beauty. The company’s Hot Chocolate Box Set was the only Canadian product to make Oprah’s list in 2023, highlighting a huge accomplishment for Lewis.
“It’s an honour to be the only Canadian brand recognized as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things 2023. It’s one of those moments that you’ll always remember. I remember the day, perfectly, down to the time,’’
Lewis said in an interview with the Caribbean Camera.

One More Cocoa, located in Whitby, Ontario, celebrates not only fine chocolate but also the vibrant spirit of its heritage. Inspired by the Jamaican proverb, “One one cocoa, full basket,” which signifies steady progress, One More Cocoa crafts artisanal treats, including gourmet chocolate bars, bonbons, and specialty hot cocoa, each offering a delectable journey through taste and Caribbean tradition.
To maximize coverage, Lewis sought out DM&C to elevate her brand’s visibility. We began with crafting a press release emphasizing One More Cocoa’s distinction as the sole Canadian company on Oprah’s list. We then followed up by coordinating media opportunities to ensure Lewis and her brand received visibility across Canada, gaining her local and national coverage on renowned news outlets such as CBC Here and Now, Breakfast Television and CTV News Toronto. This garnered her attention from the Caribbean community and Canadians alike, ultimately expanding the brand’s visibility across local and international markets.

DM&C collaborated closely with Hearst, Oprah Daily’s media and communications team throughout this campaign. Targeted media outreach and strategically placed interviews helped to boost both One More Cocoa’s public profile and product sales. Learning more about Lewis’ inspiring journey and her exceptional Caribbean-inspired chocolates to new audiences, while emphasizing her Canadian pride, positioned her brand as a symbol of excellence.
DM&C is always proud to support businesses and initiatives and particularly enjoyed amplifying Kenesha’s entrepreneurial journey through major media outlets. The DM&C team celebrates One More Cocoa’s continued success!
